Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is one of 49 National Cancer Institute (
NCI)- designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. The Center's mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach. |
Position Summary |
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.
The Clinical Laboratory Technician is responsible for oversight of laboratory samples for all disease groups, including knowledge of trial-specific requirements, interactions with vendors, sample processing and shipping, and maintaining supplies. The Clinical Laboratory Technician is also responsible for attending biopsies & collecting specimens from clinics and operating rooms. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Working knowledge and facility with information technology; ability to acquire and apply knowledge from study and review of defined sources; ability to follow instructions; ability to collect, record, and document information; ability to review information for completeness and accuracy; ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing; ability to coordinate work with others and contribute to a team environment. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience with processing and shipping laboratory samples as well as preparing study specific kits. |
