Network Architect - On Site

We are seeking an experienced Network Architect with a strong focus on Cisco solutions to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP protocols, with in-depth knowledge of Cisco technologies, particularly Nexus OS, VxLAN, routing and switching, and wireless 9800 controllers. This role requires someone with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex network solutions to support high-performance, secure, and scalable environments. A CCNP certification or equivalent experience is preferred.

Principal Responsibilities



  • Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures, with a strong focus on Cisco solutions.
  • Lead architecture planning for large-scale networks, ensuring seamless integration and scalability.
  • Configure and optimize Cisco Nexus switches and VxLAN to enhance network efficiency and performance.
  • Implement and support Cisco 9800 Wireless Controllers to ensure robust and secure wireless connectivity.
  • Work hands-on with BGP, OSPF, VPC, QoS, 802.1x and EIGRP to establish, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced routing configurations.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve network issues promptly to maintain high availability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align network solutions with organizational goals.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, architecture diagrams, and best practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve network solutions.
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends
  • Prepare metrics, reports, and capacity planning for Network Solutions.
  • Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
  • Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.


Education/Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • CCNP certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in network architecture, design, and engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise with BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP is a must.
  • Strong expertise in Cisco Nexus OS, VxLAN, routing and switching, and wireless 9800 controllers.
  • Proficiency in network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, with an ability to handle complex network issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python) for network automation.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking solutions and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Travel up to 33% of the time. Must have transportation to travel to various clinic locations.
  • Display a willingness to make independent decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgment, include appropriate people in the decision-making process and make timely decisions.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work to task completion beyond normal business hours, if necessary.

  • Operates in a professional office environment.
  • Some travel required.
