SUMMARY

Individual is responsible for various custodial/housekeeping duties as required in the Montgomery County Court House and any other location, as designated.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Janitorial Duties:

  • During daytime (first shift) hours, incumbent will have the responsibility to maintain a clean environment in all public restrooms in the Court House. This includes the application of cleaning chemicals to facilitate the elimination of bacteria. Additionally, the necessary paper, soap, sanitary supplies, etc., will be installed in each area, as required.

Adherence to schedules:

  • Each location is to be cleaned and shutdown according to schedule. This will provide minimum inconvenience to employees and general public. Allowances are made and adjustments to closures to accommodate customers.

Proper handling of environmental hazards:

  • The Custodian II will encounter various hazards as he/she carries out his/her appointed duties - exposure to needles, blood, etc. are daily possibilities. Knowledge of the potential risk to health and safety, and proper disposal techniques are imperative.

Training:

  • Each Custodian II is trained in the proper handling of chemicals and the handling of hazardous items.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Each Custodian II will respond to any cleaning assignment required during first shift, which may include janitorial duties at another County location.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Prior custodial experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
