Location: Morton Hospital USA:MA:Taunton Work Type: Full Time Shift: Shift 1 Union SUMMARY: Access Clinicians are integral members of the hospital*s Behavioral Health Team. In collaboration with the Behavioral Health Navigators the Access Clinicians are responsible for placing referrals and securing beds for patients in need of inpatient psychiatric care. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lifespan employees are expected to embrace Lifespan's mission of "Delivering health with care" and successfully role model Lifespan's values of Compassion Accountability Respect and Excellence as these guide our everyday actions with patients customers and one another. The Access Clinician: * Conducts bed searches for patients requiring inpatient psychiatric care. This entails compiling from the patient charts the relevant information needed for review by potential receiving facilities. * Collaborates with the nursing and medical staff to ensure that medical requirements are met for transfer of patients to inpatient psychiatric facilities. * Engages in interactive discussions with potential receiving facilities to facilitate patient placement. * Secures placement for accepted patients by verifying insurance and obtaining authorizations for treatment. * Refers patients who do not meet inpatient level of care to an appropriate CSU (Crisis Stabilization Unit) or CBHC (Community Based Health Center) in their community. * Documents in the EMR according to DMH and departmental regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: * Bachelor*s Degree or higher EXPERIENCE: The Access Clinician should have a solid foundation in mental health care with relevant experience in a clinical setting. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills resilience and the capacity to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals in a high paced setting.
