Environmental Technician

The INVISTA Victoria Site Environmental Team has established four Environmental Technician roles that will support the site with field inspections, periodic monitoring and observations associated with permit and regulatory requirements, maintenance of monitoring equipment, routine sampling and coordination of field testing, data management, release/emission event investigation and report/recordkeeping support, environmental governance activities, supporting environmental program owners, training, Title V reasonable inquiry, and regulatory reporting (including deviation reporting support).

The Environmental Technician will work with the Environmental Program Owners and Operations to identify associated environmental inspection, observation, and sampling requirements and oversee or where appropriate complete the inspections and sampling.

Additional responsibilities may include performing reasonable inquiries related to preparation of routine regulatory reports; maintaining agency approvals/permits; development and maintenance of site procedures and compliance and reporting tools; development, maintenance, and implementation of operator training that establishes a detailed understanding of the compliance requirements associated with environmental programs; project reviews to determine environmental requirements; environmental team lead for turnaround planning and internal audits, and other responsibilities as necessary.

This role will report to the Environmental Field Services Leader at the Victoria Site.

What You Will Do

* Interact with Operations and other site personnel to foster a culture of compliance and promote a relationship of collaboration and teamwork with the Environmental team.
* Perform tasks and reviews to ensure compliance with federal (EPA) and state (TCEQ) environmental program requirements, including required audio, visual, and olfactory inspections, visible emission observations, and field reviews for maintaining compliance with permits and regulations.
* Operate, maintain, and utilize field equipment to perform sampling and monitoring activities.
* Participate in response efforts for environmental events and work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Ensure program requirements are understood and sustainable through integrated compliance systems and training programs.
* Perform periodic self-assessments and participate in audits to verify compliance and system effectiveness.
* Engage in problem solving activities. Communicate findings from inspections to Operations and Maintenance personnel. Utilize work order management systems and other tools to track and schedule work activities.
* Collaborate with other Environmental Team members to complete governance activities (including management of metrics), periodic review of compliance records, and Title V reasonable inquiry and reporting.
* Oversee work performed by contractors and consultants.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* High School Diploma, GED, or higher
* Experience in an industrial/manufacturing/construction/municipal setting performing field-related activities
* Computer experience to include Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license

What Will Put You Ahead

* Associates degree or higher in science, technology, computer science, etc.
* Experience performing environmental inspections, audits, records review, event response
* Experience at a petrochemical or refinery in operations or maintenance

Physical Considerations

* This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.
* Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
* Must be able to work on job sites in the field for extended periods of time.
* Must be able to climb stairs in operating unit and walk significant distances. At times, will be required to carry equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
* Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time.
* Must be willing to work days in excess of 8 hours, nights, and weekends and periodically take calls during non-working hours. May participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
