Position description

The Department Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UC Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time (100% time) academic Physiatrist. The position will serve as a faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor track.

The UC Davis Department of PM&R is the premiere rehabilitation service provider in the greater Sacramento region and is located on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California. UC Davis Health has engaged in a joint venture to launch a new 52 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the UC Davis Health campus which opened in 2023. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.

This position will provide both inpatient and outpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation patient care with a focus on neurorehabilitation. Outpatient clinics (20-40%) may focus on general discharge clinics, spine care, or other subspecialty management. Inpatient responsibilities to include adult acute inpatient rehabilitation wards and consults with PM&R resident support.

This position will provide both formal and didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students and house staff, as well as participate in departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees. This position will participate in evening/weekend/holiday call for the UC Davis PM&R inpatient rehabilitation call.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

  • Must posses an M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Must work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to University policy and procedures

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

  • Must have completed an approved Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program
  • Must be eligible for licensure in the State of California and/or have an active California medical license

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

  • Demonstrated teaching experience in an academic clinical setting
