The University of Illinois System has recently established a liaison office in New Delhi. The objectives of this office include liaison with Indian institutions of higher education and research and with federal and state agencies supporting higher education and research; engaging the University of Illinois alumni in India; support travel of students, faculty and researchers from the University of Illinois System to India; and support faculty, students, and government and private sector officials from India to travel to the University of Illinois System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Understand the breadth and depth of research at the University of Illinois System.
  2. Become familiar with all academic areas at the universities at the University of Illinois System.
  3. Position the University of Illinois System as a superior, highly ranked comprehensive, academic institution in the United States in India.
  4. Prepare a timeline and outcomes for different activities of the office on a monthly/quarterly basis. Track the progress of these activities and prepare progress reports on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
  5. Participate in major educational fairs to promote the University of Illinois System.
  6. Arrange invitations from Indian higher education institutions to speakers from Illinois on different areas of expertise to offer talks at these institutions in India.
  7. Work with the University of Illinois System and higher education institutions in India to facilitate faculty and researcher mobility between the two countries.
  8. Maintain contact with alumni and support the University of Illinois to build a more robust alumni network in India
  9. Regular travel within India and once a year to the U.S. as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  1. Master's degree with at least five years of professional experience in higher education.


KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of Indian academic institutions and government educational and research agencies.
  • Must be a resident of Bangalore.
  • Regular travel within India and once a year to the U.S. as required.
  • Place of work: Remote.
  • Required qualifications include a master's degree with at least five years of professional experience in higher education.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Work authorization in India is required. The University of Illinois will not sponsor work visas.
  • Salary commensurate with experience. Full-time, 12-month position eligible for health insurance, social security, vacation time, etc., according to the Indian law.


APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a Full Time academic professional position. The expected start date is 2/19/2024. Sponsorship for Work Authorization is not available for this position.

The budgeted salary range for the position is $35,000.00 - 50,000.00. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
