POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists in the daily operation of the food pantry. Participates in inventory control, storage and sanitation. Picks up, receives and dispenses food from the pantry. Assists in coordinating activities in the demonstration kitchen. Acts as liaison to Boston food banks.

Position: Food Pantry Assistant (U)

Department: Food Pantry

Schedule: Full Time

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Assists in the daily operation of the food pantry
  • Picks up, sorts, stocks and distributes food supplies, which may include driving a vehicle or truck for the purposes of picking up or distributing food and/or supplies.
  • Participates in inventory control, storage and sanitation
  • Maintains filing system of all pertinent records, including data entry.
  • Assists families to the lobby as necessary.
  • Assist in coordinating activities to ensure the efficient operation of the demonstration kitchen.
  • Conducts all activities in compliance with the hospital's sanitation requirements.
  • Acts as liaison to Boston food banks.
  • Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.
  • Utilizes hospital's Values as the basis for decision-making and to facilitate the division's hospital mission.
  • Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned or as necessary.

Must adhere to all of BMC's RESPECT behavioral standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Valid, Unexpired Driver's License; possess and maintain a current, valid Massachusetts driver's license and successfully complete a motor vehicle driving records check.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Excellent communication, organizing and interpersonal skills. Good writing skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language is helpful but not required.
