Position Highlights The Dhaliwal-Reidy School of Accountancy is seeking course facilitators to support faculty members teaching on-campus and online courses. Course facilitators improve the student experience by assisting course instructors with tasks such as providing timely responses to student questions, grading assignments, holding virtual office hours, monitoring discussion boards, and entering grades in a learning management system (LMS). Quick responses and turnaround times are vital to student success. Duties will vary based on course and instructor.
The School of Accountancy provides top quality accounting education programs and support services, including a focus on critical thinking and business ethics, attracting and graduating a diverse student body who proceed to productive and successful careers.

This is an intermittent position; facilitators will be assigned to courses based on their areas of expertise. Initially, facilitators will be assigned to individual courses. Based on the needs of the School, facilitators may also be invited to facilitate additional courses; additional courses may overlap by prior arrangement between the School and facilitator. Facilitators will be hired from this posting for multiple course sessions including Spring, Summer and Fall with start dates aligning with the course assignments. Particularly strong need for spring 7W1 and spring 7W2, from January thru May.

Facilitators are also expected to provide their own computing devices and have reliable high-speed access to internet to work from other locations. No special software will be required; although the device(s) must be capable of accessing LMS, Microsoft, and Adobe applications, and using virtual conferencing software.

Duties & Responsibilities

Faculty members will each require different levels of support depending on the subject area and design of the course.

Duties may include:

  • Responding to student inquiries about course content and/or using the LMS.
  • Holding regularly scheduled office hours in a virtual environment.
  • Grading assignments.
  • Monitoring discussion boards and responding to student comments.
  • Entering grades in the LMS.
  • Working in an online environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a business-related field from an AACSB accredited university and 3 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Accounting from an AACSB accredited university.
  • Successfully passed the CPA exam.
  • Experience with an online learning environment.
  • Experience using D2L.
  • Experience using a LMS and virtual conferencing software, such as Zoom or Teams.
