Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Support duties: Provides basic care services to patients, but does not have an RN or LPN license. Positions in this nursing support work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a "hands on" environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An entry level role that typically requires little to no prior knowledge or experience, work is routine or follows standard procedures, work is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.

Job Overview

This position, under the supervision of the Manager and Director, performs and oversees services in a designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively within department and other services to create a system of quality health care.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or equivalent.

2. One (1) year of related office or clerical experience.

3. Previous experience with phone systems or switchboard.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Three (3) years of medical office experience

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Greets and provides intake services to all departmental visitors and screens incoming calls. Reviews documentation to identify clinical status and communicates with modalities.

2. Continuously monitors patients in waiting room and stretcher holding areas. Assists patients or seeks additional clinical support when necessary. Make basic observations and reports them to licensed staff, practices universal precautions, assists with bedpan and emesis basins; assists in lifting, transporting and ambulating patients.

3. Processes incoming and interoffice call rapidly, courteously and accurately (within 3 rings). Assists callers in any way possible by routing to appropriate personnel within the department. Employee meets work efficiency productivity standards for symposium.

4. Contacts physician's offices to obtain written orders for exams when necessary. Obtains registration data and coordinates multiple examinations with multiple department sections.

5. Screens and processes requests for records from patients, insurance companies, lawyers, physicians, hospital departments, and other facilities. Executes the release and return of records to patients. Contacts other facilities to obtain previous exams as needed.

6. Possesses general knowledge of HIS/RIS, Lobby, Passport, transport system and PACS. Will assist with the department workflow by escorting patients to and from the exam rooms and filling supplies.

7. Uses language of caring and other tools to enhance communication and exceed patient/physician expectations by demonstrating the principles of Complete Connected.Care.

8. Recognizes when others are in need of assistance and consistently offers help when own workload permits.

Physical Requirements:

1. Works under normal office conditions, with occasional exposure to infectious diseases.

2. Constant contact with patients, families, visitors, delivery people, taxi companies, physicians, etc.

1. Ability to read/write and communicate in English.

2. Excellent interpersonal skills.

3. Ability to function well in very busy situations.

4. Responsible and reliable.

5. Good organization skills.

6. Outstanding customer service.

7. Ability to multitask and be productive both independently as well as with the team.

8. Accuracy and attention to detail is a must in this position as is ability to use electronic medical records systems.
