Description
We invite applications for faculty positions of all ranks (tenure-track assistant, tenured associate and full professors) as part of a cluster hire in Applied AI and Data Sciences for applications in the Life Sciences and Engineering. This cluster hire is part of The University of Texas at Austin's Cluster Hiring Program in AI and Data Analytics (AI DA). Outstanding candidates who either (i) develop new tools for AI and machine learning, or (ii) have innovative, data-driven applications for these tools will be considered. We are particularly interested in recruiting investigators working in the areas of explainable/interpretable AI and scientific machine learning. Research topics can include (but are not limited to) protein and therapeutics design, multimodal medical imaging, digital twins for medical applications, other data-driven approaches in medicine or life sciences and engineering. It is broadly expected that successful candidates will likely be placed in the departments of Molecular Biosciences, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering or Chemical Engineering within the College of Natural Sciences or the Cockrell School of Engineering. Faculty will collaborate with numerous researchers involved in UT-Austin's Machine Learning Lab, Institute for the Foundations of Machine Learning (IFML), Oden Institute for Computational and Engineering Sciences, and the Good Systems initiative as well as the newly launched Center for Generative AI and its associated GPU cluster consisting of 600 GH200 nodes. Qualifications
All candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computational Engineering, or a related area at the time of employment. Successful candidates will be expected to create undergraduate and graduate learning environments that address the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds, with differing learning approaches and abilities, develop an externally sponsored research program, mentor graduate students, collaborate with other faculty, and be involved in service to the university and the profession. Candidates are encouraged to specify a home department preference when responding to the link below, and to check the relevant department specific faculty postings. Application Instructions
All faculty positions require a cover letter, current curriculum vita, research statement, teaching and mentoring statement and PDF copies of a maximum of two peer-reviewed, published manuscripts. For all positions, three (3) reference letters are required. Review of applications will begin on January 15, 2025, with a priority application deadline of January 31, 2025. Applications received after the deadline are not guaranteed full consideration. Successful candidate will be required to complete an Employment Eligibility Verification form and provide documents to verify identity and eligibility to work in the USA. A security sensitive background check will be conducted on the applicant selected. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
