Department DH TB CONTROL PROGRAM PAV LJob Summary The Medical Assistant will be part of the Tuberculosis Clinic which is one of four clinics within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health. This position will work primarily in clinics in schools and occasionally in outreach settings. This is a Monday-Friday position 8-5. Under general supervision, assists provider including all back office duties. Provides nursing support with various functions such as; invasive procedures, medication administration, performing appointment and registration scheduling functions. Assists the RN with clinical clerical functions. Ensures smooth work and patient flow within the clinic. We are looking for a medical assistant (MA) to join an experienced and committed team caring for people with tuberculosis (TB) or suspected TB throughout the Denver metro area. The MA will join the TB Clinic, one of four outpatient clinics within the Public Health Institute at Denver Health. Our clinic has a long tradition of providing high-quality, patient-centered care. We are looking for someone who is skilled, experienced, and motivated to learn, with an understanding of social justice, health equity, and the systemic barriers that marginalized communities face. Work hours are M-F from 8-5 and Spanish speaking is preferred but not required. Education: Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Office Assisting or accredited program of Licensed Practical Nursing with an active LPN license Licenses: Basic Life Support for Medical Assistant certification All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment. Essential Functions: Knowledge of medical office practice. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. Bilingual skills preferred.
