Overview

NaphCare Pharmacy is committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical solutions to our patients and healthcare partners. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Pharmaceutical Purchasing to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham Al to help secure the best prices and ensure a consistent supply of medications.

The Director of Pharmaceutical Purchasing will be responsible for managing procurement activities, including negotiating contracts with manufacturers, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations. The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of bulk purchasing and health system dynamics to secure the best pricing and ensure uninterrupted access to essential medications.

Responsibilities

    Negotiate purchasing contracts with manufacturers, wholesalers, and group purchasing organizations to achieve cost savings.
  • Evaluate bulk purchasing opportunities to secure optimal pricing on medications.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to forecast medication needs based on usage trends.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors to address supply chain issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Stay informed about market trends, pricing shifts, and new products.


Qualifications

  • 5 yrs Minimum Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within the healthcare or pharmacy sector.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly with high-volume contracts.
  • Knowledge of group purchasing organizations and wholesale purchasing dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills. Preferred.
  • Previous purchasing experience in a hospital or health system setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, inventory management systems, and market pricing trends.
