Overview
Supervises the CSP department, manage team members in processing instruments including but not limited to transport, decontamination, cleaning, prep/pack, sterilization, storage and the proper handling of supplies. They guide team members in following infection control practices and CSP policies and procedures. They supervise personnel in an equitable manner to attain optimum productivity, accuracy, and employee satisfaction. Responsibilities
Key Accountabiliy
- Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the manager.
- Assists in developing annual budget, and takes appropriate action when appropriate to maintain control of department financial resources.
- Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe, efficient operation of the department as needed.
- Investigates problem areas/complaints that arise in the department and conducts appropriate follow up.
- Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital.
- Assists with staff, planning by oversees team schedule, making daily assignments and adjustments to adequately staff all areas within the department.
- Monitors KRONOS making corrections in a timely manner.
- . Participates in interdepartmental projects for personal and professional development.
- Interviews, orients, and trains new team members and educates existing team members.
- Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment.
- Write and administer employee performance reviews.
- Disciplines, and terminates staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow personnel policies/procedures.
- Oversees sterilization equipment, instruments processing, and is a resource to team members on instrument sterilization, sterilization supplies, and documentation of sterilization.
- Assembles instruments and instrument trays as the work flow demands.
- Builds case carts and dispense supplies to clean core and other areas as requested through the supply management system and assigns priority to routine, urgent and emergency requisitions.
- Properly operates equipment according to manufacturer recommendation.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

Qualifications

- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

Experience: |
- Must have intermediate computer skills with the ability to proceed to advanced computer skills.

- Previous CSP or Surgical Services experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical supplies and supply distribution
|
License(s)/Certification(s): |
- Position requires CRCST certification. Must obtain certification according to central sterile processing policy
- Or other applicable certification or licensure, ie RN, CST.
- Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
