Compensation:

Salary schedule based on Teacher contract, previous teaching experience and education. Placed on the salary schedule based on highest level of education up to step F for experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is teaching 4 year olds in preschool located at Royal Oaks Elementary

POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and implement preschool instruction in cooperation with other classroom team members and early childhood program expectations.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Develop and implement developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans for four year olds.
  2. Support program initiatives and early childhood best practices in the classroom.
  3. Implement and utilize positive behavior management expectations and processes supported through the Pyramid framework coaching and tools.
  4. Deliver curriculum and assessment based on State and district approved tools
  5. Assist in the identification, referral and instruction of children with special needs.
  6. Prepare and organize parent/teacher conferences (spring)
  7. Maintain a stimulating, healthy, and clean classroom environment that promotes student learning.
  8. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  9. Provide daily guidance and direction to paraprofessionals by communicating duties verbally and in writing, by posting duties, lesson plans, schedules and direction for support of assessment.
  10. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  11. Follow processes expected by Community Education for the early childhood programs as outlined by Early Childhood administration.
  12. Attend early childhood meetings and professional development as required.
  13. Keep informed of current trends in the Early Childhood field through professional development.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
  1. Training or experience teaching in an early learning and/or preschool classroom.
  2. Experience developing, modifying, and implementing curriculum and learning environments for preschool children.
  3. Group leadership skills.
  4. Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills
  5. Excellent communicator and organizational skills.
  6. Ability and desire to teach under the team concept.
  7. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  8. Ability to perform routine computer functions as required for the job.
  9. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
Preferred:
  1. Current Minnesota licensure in Early Childhood Education or PreK preferred
