Healthcare Facility Manager

Under general supervision, is responsible for the management and coordination of work projects for the ongoing maintenance of thebuildings of the Medical Center. Work involves the regular inspection offacilitiesfor repair and maintenance purposes, the planning of work required, and estimates of material costs and man hours required. Liaison is maintained with all departments to ensure that their support service needs are met in these areas. Work is performed with considerable independence in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations. Administrative supervision is exercised over maintenance staff in the Department ofFacilitiesManagement. Reports to the Sr. Director ofFacilitiesOperations

Key responsibilities of a healthcare facility manager:



  • Maintenance and Operations:

    • Managing routine maintenance schedules for building systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety equipment.
    • Overseeing cleaning and sanitation procedures throughout the facility.
    • Coordinating repairs and maintenance with contractors.
    • Responding to emergency maintenance issues.



  • Compliance and Safety:

    • Ensuring adherence to all local, state, and federal healthcare facility regulations.
    • Conducting regular safety inspections and addressing safety concerns.
    • Managing hazardous materials and waste disposal.
    • Implementing and maintaining emergency preparedness plans.



  • Construction and Renovation Projects:

    • Planning and managing facility renovation or expansion projects.
    • Working with architects, engineers, and contractors during construction phases
    • Overseeing project budgets and timelines



  • Budget Management:

    • Developing and managing the facility maintenance budget
    • Negotiating contracts with vendors and contractors
    • Tracking expenses related to facility operations.



  • Staff Supervision:

    • Leading and supervising a team of maintenance technicians, cleaning staff, and other facility personnel.
    • Scheduling staff and assigning tasks
    • Providing training and performance evaluations



  • Technology Management:

    • Monitoring and maintaining building automation systems.
    • Implementing new technology solutions to optimize facility operations.




Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field required AND a minimum of 3-5 years of experience OR in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7-10 years of experience required.
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) credential (preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare facility management, including maintenance practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial management
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety standards
