The Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager works closely with the Ambulatory Care Assistant Chief to establish and execute strategy for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialty Clinical Services. This includes identifying areas of improvement, opportunities for development of new innovative services, mitigation of emerging threats, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness/efficiency. The Ambulatory Manager of Specialty Clinical is well versed in all applicable accrediting agency requirements including but not limited to URAC, The Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy, and other accreditations as needed. This manager serves as the primary leader who oversees assigned Specialty Clinical Services. These include but are not limited to pharmacists in clinic, technicians supporting the pharmacists and the financial assistance program (including prescription capture programs) and other programs as they arise. This Manager oversees the team's participation in population health initiatives relevant to Specialty Pharmacy at UC Davis and UCOP. This leader works with the Assistant Chief to drive strategy for specialty clinical services and help grow the pharmacy enterprise. This leader also works closely with the Assistant Chief of Specialty and the Managers of outpatient retail to help drive revenue and prescription capture.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Licensed Pharmacist in the State of California. Out-of-State Pharmacist eligible to apply. If out-of-state Pharmacist, obtain and provide California Pharmacist License within 6 months of hire date.
- Post-Graduate Year (PGY) 1 Residency
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent training / experience
- Management or supervisory experience within ambulatory care, or equivalent leadership experience
- Knowledge in Pharmacy practice and industry best practices in optimizing the use of medication to treat patients. Ability to stay updated on pharmacy regulations, drug products, and developments in research and design.
- Knowledge of all pharmacy federal and state laws and regulations.
- Leadership skills in employee supervision to effectively lead and motivate others. Conflict resolution skills to resolve personnel issues and counsel assigned staff to develop cooperative working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment. Demonstrated ability to adapt and be flexible, and to anticipate and effectively handle change. Customer service orientation to respond quickly and with empathy to patient issues.
- Ability to organize operations in an efficient and effective manner through improving workflow systems and protocols.
- Ability to collaborate within and across departments to coordinate daily Pharmacy activities and resolve problems. Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.
- Proven analytical abilities and problem solving skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution. Ability to resolve patient issues and find solutions that satisfy all parties.
- Demonstrated ability to listen actively, consider all points of view with an open mind, soliciting and incorporating ideas when appropriate.

- LEAN Certifications
- Board Certification [e.g., Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP)] or equivalent
- Master's degree [Master of Science (MS) in related area, Master of Health Administration (MHA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA)] or equivalent
- Post-Graduate Year (PGY) 2 Residency
- Completion of American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Leadership Academy (PLA)
- Specialty clinical experience
- Strategy planning experience.

The Department of Pharmacy is a dynamic, integral, and critical part of patient care provided by UC Davis Health. As a department of greater than 600 professional, technical, and administrative support personnel, we focus on providing patient-centered medication management that optimizes outcomes through practice, education, research, and leadership through the continuum of care. We also have the largest pharmacy residency program in the country with 46 total residents in 13 different programs.
The Department of Pharmacy offers comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, and teaching) throughout the health system complex 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy services encompass inpatient pharmacy services as well as an expansive footprint in the ambulatory care space where we have clinical pharmacists embedded within our clinics and specialty care locations. Our operational teams support the health system enterprise with three inpatient pharmacies, five outpatient pharmacies, two infusion pharmacies, a home infusion service line, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores, and distribution.

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
