Data Analytics Manager

The Data Analytics Manager will be responsible for managing the reporting and analytics lifecycle for usage of Bloomberg Industry Group's research and software products from end to end. This individual will be required to manage projects and collaborate cross functionally, enabling teams to adopt data-driven processes and implement data in their decision-making. This role supports the business by analyzing a variety of data sources programmatically, producing meaningful usage deliverables that will provide an analytical perspective that will help steer the strategic direction of the company. The role is responsible for data gathering, report and dashboard development, QA, and analysis of a broad set of regularly scheduled and ad hoc deliverables . The Data Analytics Manager partners closely with product teams to establish measurement tools, inform on measurement logic and democratize availability of product performance data.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the respective business unit's reporting lifecycle from end to end, owning and overseeing reporting and analytics processes including tagging of Bloomberg Industry Group products and content, managing data gathering, establishing metrics, building and distributing dashboards and reports, performing QA, and engaging with business leaders in to answer critical business questions and inform product roadmap development.
  • Manages usage data projects from project inception through completion
  • Trains, guides, and coaches analysts and technical roles in business units and central corporate teams in usage reporting and analytics.
  • Accountable for the development, maintenance, and innovation of large, enterprise-wide datasets, data tools and platforms, and the direction of colleagues to implement and use these datasets and tools.
  • Partners with data domain owners such as user authentication/fulfillment, sales, finance and marketing to assist with data, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
  • Interprets data, analyzes results using statistical techniques, and provides evolving reports and dashboards that meet business and product needs.
  • Evolve data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and works with data engineering to maintain data objects, schemas and tables.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets, with focus on usage, workflows and friction points.
  • Improve quality of analysis by maintaining coding and data hygiene standards including adoption of data anomaly alerts and other automated detection methods.
  • Works with confidential usage and customer data and contributes significantly to management business decisions.
  • Facilitates the administration of and trains users of analytics software such as Amplitude and Tableau.
  • Builds complex reports and serves as an advisor to team members.
  • Attends meetings and may act as a representative for the Product Analytics team.
  • Manages projects with minimal supervision.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or senior data analyst.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with web analytic tools (Adobe Analytics, etc.), databases (SQL, etc.), and programming (XML, VBA, etc.).
  • Excel macro writing and PowerPivot skills desirable.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong comfort level gathering requirements, conducting interviews and facilitating brainstorming or collaboration sessions with customer representatives.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Skilled in managing multiple requests and maintaining a high-level of responsiveness.
  • Experience being self-directed in managing projects.
  • Ability to advise team members and lead matrixed groups.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with courses in business, mathematics, statistics or appropriate combination of education and experience required.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience creating, reporting from, and analyzing large datasets from multiple disparate sources, producing analytic reports for high-level audiences, and presentation of information. Experience building complex reports and managing projects.
