Georgia-Pacific Discrete Manufacturing Engineering Group is seeking qualified professionals for our Mechanical Engineer opportunity.

This position serves in a supporting role for Georgia Pacific Facilities primarily within the Building Products and Corrugated/Cellulose divisions. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for performing mechanical engineering, design and 3D modeling for heavy industrial projects including equipment layout, large ducting, steam, condensate, air, water, natural gas, propane and miscellaneous piping, thermal expansion analysis, material specification and size selection, assist in the preparation of construction documents.

This position will require the ideal candidate to possess knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, steel pipe, fittings and valves, P&ID's, welding, ASME standards. The Mechanical Engineer will perform site visits and work closely with Georgia Pacific project team, project managers and construction teams to ensure successful project completion.

This position will require approximately 25-35% travel, and this would be a Hybrid role with at least 1 day at the Atlanta headquarters weekly.

This role reports into a corporate engineering organization, but partners routinely with leadership teams at G-P's network of Building Products, Corrugated, and Cellulose facilities across the US as well as other engineering technical resources.

What You Will Do
* Prepare, coordinate, and monitor the assigned engineering projects.
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, rules, industry practices and GP standards.
* Conduct on-site investigations, assessments, and field measurements and communicate directly with Mill personnel.
* Develop engineering calculations to support the design work, create 3D models as required for equipment and piping installations, specify standards, work with drafters for production of drawings.
* Collaborate daily and communicate effectively with the project managers, mill personnel, GP engineers, and leadership.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology
* 5+ years of experience working in mechanical engineering, reliability, or maintenance fields
* Experience in steel piping design
* Experience with AutoCAD

What Will Put You Ahead
* 10+ years of experience working in mechanical engineering, reliability, or maintenance fields
* P.E. License or EIT with ability to obtain a PE license
* Experience with ASME B31.3 process piping code
* API 650 Tank Design Experience
* ASME pressure vessel design experience
* Experience using Autodesk Inventor
* Experience in welding design
* Experience with thermal expansion design
* Experience with boilers and energy systems
* Experience in pump design
* Experience with NFPA code and piping
