Every student in New York City deserves an excellent teacher. The NYC Teaching Fellows is an alternative teacher certification program designed to provide training and support to aspiring teachers who will dedicate themselves to raising student achievement and effecting change in New York City's highest-need schools. Here's how it works: - The full-time 7-week summer training program runs from June - August 2025 - Training includes hands-on experience in real NYC Public Schools classrooms - Program participants receive targeted, ongoing coaching from skilled Coaches - Following summer training, program participants begin teaching full-time as salaried teachers in a New York City Public Schools classroom in September 2025 - Within 2-3 years, participants earn a subsidized master's degree and apply for New York State initial teaching certification to continue their teaching careers. Why join the NYC Teaching Fellows? - Stipend during pre-service training - Starting salary of at least $66,733 and full NYCPS employee benefits following successful completion of training (starting September 2025) - Heavily subsidized master's degree in education - Ongoing coaching and feedback Eligibility Requirements Before applying to the NYC Teaching Fellows program, make sure that you meet basic program eligibility requirements: - Bachelor's degree conferred by May 31, 2025 - Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 - Fluent in written and spoken English - United States work authorization (NYCTF does not sponsor candidates) - Never participated in a program that would lead to certification in the U.S. or Puerto Rico In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria to teach math.
