Responsible for the coordination of the Medical Staff credentialing/re-credentialing and privileging activities in accordance with the Organization's mission and strategic goals and to meet the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies. Collaboratively coordinates and manages all medical stafforganizational, administrative, credentialing and privileging functions for both initial appointment and reappointment. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of all departmental processes.

Job Description

  • Maintains open communication with Medical Staff, APPs, Administration, Hospital Departments, practitioners' office staff, and related health agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agencies and continuous survey readiness.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and hospital policies and works to ensure all credentialing and re-credentialing activities of the medical staff is in compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and all accrediting regulatory standards.
  • Maintains Medical Staff financial accounts by collecting and processing annual dues, and oversees departmental invoices.
  • Coordinates credentialing and privileging procedures for initial and reappointment of Medical Staff and APPs, as needed, in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, TJC standards, and State and Federal law.
  • Processes applications including collecting necessary documentation for credentialing/re-credentialing, human resources and billing, and arranging/preparing packets for medical staff onboarding.
  • Assists with development of privilege criteria, privilege delineations, and other documents necessary for an effective credentialing process.
  • Attends medical staff meetings as necessary. Assists as needed with agenda and materials preparation. Records minutes at specified committees.
  • Maintains confidential credential and peer files and electronic medical staff database and reports along with resources such as NPDB, ABMS, AMA profiles, etc.
  • Assists the Department: typing schedules, letters, processing documents, create file folder labels using Color Bar Software, filing, attend meetings, arrange medical staff meetings, transcriptions of minutes and correspondence, phone calls, medical staff dues, calendar, maintain minutes binder, monthly queries, medical staff organizational chart and committee membership, rosters, medical staff directory, Crimson Reports, Board letters, mail merges, follow-up on pending items, etc.
  • Assumes other related responsibilities as required by the Administrative Director of Medical Staff Office.

Qualifications:

  • BA or AA with related experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Three (3) years full-time administrative experience in GME, credentialing, or related medical areas preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, website and database management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and organization of medical care.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient at transcription
