Research Assistant Entry (Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center)

Job Description

The research assistantprovides histotechnology and consultation services to internal and external clients in various fields of biomedical/pharmaceutical research for the Translational Pathology Shared Resource Laboratory. They will routinely process samples and communicate with clients.

  • Provides histotechnology and consultation services to the clients of Translational Pathology Shared Resources laboratory, which includes tissue processing, embedding, microtome sectioning, routine and special staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC)
  • Effectively communicates with clients in person, as well as through email and phone calls
  • Performs daily maintenance of laboratory equipment and other laboratory procedures assigned by manager, according to established SOPs
  • Prepares laboratory reagents, according to established protocols. Able to calculate/scale up or down dilutions

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field of study is required; Master's degree is preferred.

ASCP Histotechnician or Histotechnologist certification is preferred

AND

Experience:

2+ years of biochemical or related laboratory experience is required, 2+ years histotechnology experience is preferred.
