The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division Position Description Decatur, IL Corps Position Title: Maintenance Technician Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician will maintain the local Decatur properties and facilities in operating order, forecast repair needs and repair any concerns as discovered or as indicated on a repair schedule. This individual will be required to manage a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks. Reports To: Corps Officer(s) Qualifications: Minimum of two year's related work experience. Good written and verbal communication skills with those they interact with to include staff, volunteers, community members, those we serve and supporting organizations. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to be a team player, a self-starter, and perform with minimum supervision. Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver's license and maintain DOT Certifications as required. Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Position Ranking: Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt. Physical Demands/ Work Environment: This Position is required to do light to moderate physical work. To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Individual must be capable of frequently lifting 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting 100 pounds. Frequently lifts or moves 100 pounds or more with assistance of another person/forklift/floor jack/dolly/cart or truck. Majority of lifting is from floor to waist high. Some lifting required above waist and shoulder high, but it will be a reduced weight. Position is expected to: Bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items. Most of this work will be internal, warehouse or outside. Temperatures will fluctuate with the weather. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
