Your Role with Us:

Salem Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support our Trauma and Acute Care Surgery program in a full-time capacity. Salem Health is a level II trauma center, with approximately 2,000 trauma activations annually. Our team of experienced surgeons perform more than 14,200 surgeries annually with nearly 80% being emergency/trauma and 20% elective surgery. Our practice consists of fifteen (15) surgeons and seven (7) advanced practice providers (APPs) who offer inpatient, outpatient, and OR services. Salem Health is home to the busiest emergency room on the west coast, providing a high volume of diverse and complex cases. We have a growing medical group of 330 providers representing twenty (20) specialties (including dedicated vascular and thoracic surgeons). You would be joining a team of Trauma and Acute Care physicians and APPs who love what they do, enjoy teaching, and foster collegiality.

Our full-time APPs are contracted for 184 (10-hour) shifts, annually. Shifts vary between inpatient rounding/discharge/consults, clinic and assisting in the operating room. The average inpatient census of 40 patients is covered by three (3) surgeons and two (2) APPs. Salem Health APPs enjoy the ability to work independently while supported by team and colleagues. There are no residents in house, which creates more opportunities for APPs to take on higher acuity and more complex cases.
