Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The Quality Control and Warranty Manager will oversee the warranty process for products, services and equipment across the
UNCW campus for campus-owned equipment that is maintained by Facilities.
Responsibilities include:
- Review and understand warranties and terms of contracts for all types of equipment, including residential and commercial equipment.
- Track inventory according to warranty start terms, whether ship date, start up date or Certificate of Occupancy date, as stated in the warranty.
- Register equipment with manufacturer, vendor etc. to comply with warranty contracts as soon as purchases are made and/or installation takes place to prevent incorrect information, and to ensure data is assimilated into the AiM environment for tracking.
- Manage equipment to ensure proper function as outlined in the warranty, which includes ability to expertly assess the condition of assets, determine criticality and develop viable options based on cost-based analysis.
- Resolve issues, including defects in materials or workmanship; and remedy in terms of equipment repair, price reduction or replacement.
- Establish and implement warranty-related policies and procedures, analyze warranty data, maintain financial data and establish accurate records.
- Train staff in Physical Plant Shops, Project Managers and Capital Project Managers to understand fiscal responsibility of the process.
- Locate, identify and manage faulty equipment that has been ignored, misplaced to ensure warranties are established and enforced to save money for the University.
- Employ analytic approach and understand procurement methods.
- Perform quality checks on processes to determine if corrective actions are needed
This position is considered mandatory personnel and may be required to work during emergency and/or weather events. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Preferred education, professional skills and experience |
- Working experience in a plant environment with knowledge of trades shops.
- Experience in Warranty Management.
- Exposure to a plant of service environment that uses a work order management system such as AiM.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
