Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Clinical Documentation Liaison

Seeking a Clinical Documentation Liaison to join our Health Information Management team at MSK. MSK links healthcare clinicians with information technology and is the link between patient's health information and health insurers, state and federal government, and other regulating agencies. Our mission is leadership in the management and timely provision of reliable clinical information to authorized requesters through advanced systems, continuous education and re-evaluation in support of the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer.

Role Overview:

    Facilitate communication between the Clinical Documentation Integrity team, Coding team, healthcare providers, and relevant parties to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Conduct comprehensive quality assurance reviews and special projects that require in-depth knowledge of CDI, ICD-10 CM/PCS coding, and review skills.
  • Organize and deliver presentations on review findings, ensuring that summaries are clear, concise, and tailored to the audience's needs.
  • Educate healthcare professionals on critical CDI and coding concepts, translating complex clinical information into actionable insights.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, institutional policies, and procedures related to clinical documentation and coding practices.
  • Stay informed on industry updates by regularly reviewing professional publications, integrating the latest CDI and coding trends into daily practices.
  • Review clinical records and queries with physicians, participating in validation denials and value measurement projects to improve documentation accuracy.
  • Collaborate with physicians and providers to ensure medical records reflect accurate diagnoses and coding, supporting Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCCs) and medical necessity documentation.

Key Qualifications:

  • Nursing (RN) license with bachelor's degree in nursing or RN license with bachelor's degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or other related field, and/or graduate education leading to Physician Assistant (PA) with PA license, and/or graduate education leading to MD, DO or equivalent degree required
  • ACDIS Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) required
  • Experience with ICD-10 CM/PCS coding and DRG assignment
  • 2+ Years of experience with relevant clinical documentation improvement experience & experience in the acute care setting

Core Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office competency, including but not limited to PowerPoint, Work and Excel
  • Master's degree in nursing with advanced practice license and congruent experience in the acute care setting
  • AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification

Additional Information:

Location: Hybrid, 1-9 times a year at 633 3rd Ave

Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday

Reporting To: Manager II, Clinical Documentation Integrity

Pay Range: $109,300.00-$174,800.00
