Full time Physician Assistant Opportunity with Carilion Clinic Neurosurgery. This position is specific for the Neurosurgery in-patient APP Team. APP team members work 4 ten hours shifts/week at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. There are no nights shifts and there is no call. The APP's rotate weekend coverage once every 5-6 weekends. The weekend is a full ten-hour shift on both Sat and Sun. There is a comp day worked into the week before and the week after each weekend shift. The service line covers both adult and pediatric patients. The position will include surgical first assist responsibilities. Surgical First Assist experience is preferred but not required. Carilion Clinic is a 700 bed Level I Trauma Center serving the geographic region of SW Virginia. The VTCSOM (Virginia Tech School of Medicine) Department of Neurosurgery has 10 neurosurgeons with multiple sub-specialty sections. There is a neurosurgery residency program. The hospital-based APP team works closely with the Neurosurgery residents. The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care. What We Require:
