Overview

LMI, a strategic consulting organization focused on the federal government, is seeking a highly motivated, tech-savvy Financial Data Reporting Specialist with a strong background in data visualization, financial data analysis, and government project management activities. The ideal candidate will have experience developing financial dashboards, creating advanced Excel and Power BI presentations, and working collaboratively with geographically diverse teams. This position plays a critical role in translating complex data sets into compelling visuals that support data-driven decision-making across multiple interrelated projects.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset and proficiency in various visualization tools to create informative dashboards, graphs, diagrams, and process flows. Successful candidates will also possess expertise in financial support processes, including cost estimation and business case development, to align with organizational objectives and project needs.



Responsibilities

    Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior executives, to identify key financial and operational metrics for visualization.
  • Develop financial dashboards using Power BI and Excel to display metrics such as expenses, cash flow, capital forecasting, and budget variance.
  • Ensure all visualizations and dashboards are user-friendly, accurate, and provide actionable insights.
  • Test and validate data inputs and outputs to ensure accuracy and consistency across deliverables.
  • Provide live modifications and updates to dashboards during meetings with senior leadership or stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate trends, performance, and patterns effectively.
  • Train stakeholders and end-users in interpreting and utilizing created dashboards and visualizations.
  • Analyze and report cost estimate data, ensuring clarity and actionable insights for project managers and financial stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with USPS data security and administrative requirements, including background checks and cybersecurity training.
  • Offer recommendations for improving financial and operational processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage and document all visualization and cost estimation projects, ensuring transparency and reproducibility of work.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience creating financial dashboards, advanced Excel documents, and Power BI presentations.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, including creating interactive visualizations and custom reports.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder groups with diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines with high-quality deliverables and minimal supervision.
  • Keen attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance (US Citizen or Permanent Resident with specific residency and travel requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with senior executives or director-level leadership.
  • PMP certification and demonstrated knowledge of PMBOK methodologies.
  • Expertise in financial data visualization within government or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with IT capital planning, budgeting, and software project cost management lifecycles.

Target salary range: $87,217 - $153,503
