Overview LMI is seeking a Center Student Programs Specialist. This position will support NASA's workforce experience activities for students grades K-16 with a STEM focus. This position requires the ability to obtain a public trust clearance. Work to be performed onsite at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. NASA Internships are part of NASA's Office of STEM Engagement's portfolio of activities and enrichment. NASA Internships are designed to build a diverse future STEM workforce by engaging students in authentic learning experiences and leveraging NASA's unique mission through NASA's people, content, and facilities. NASA Internships achieves these goals by exposing students and educators, who reflect the full diversity of the nation, to NASA missions. Participants undertake mentor-guided internships at NASA field centers and facilities under the tutelage of NASA scientists, engineers, and others, or may be embedded with research teams working on NASA-related STEM activities at aerospace contractors, government research laboratories, or academic institutions. While the primary focus of internships is STEM-related, internships in professional support areas needed for NASA to achieve its mission (e.g., finance, communications, human resources, etc.) are also included. NASA Internships includes high school through post-graduate students as well as educators. Internship opportunities are available in the spring, summer, fall, and year-long. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for the NSTEM internships program at Johnson Space Center, initiating and administering all aspects of the program (recruitment, project intake, application, placement, onboarding, internship administration, etc.). The goal is to implement a quality, hands-on experiential learning experience which offers talented students from a broad cross-section of academic institutions exposure to NASA. Qualifications
