Intern, Service Desk Analyst

This role will work a hybrid schedule out of either our Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, WV office. The intern will report to the Team Lead Infrastructure and Operations - Service Desk.

This is a full-time summer internship for the 2025 summer and will require someone who can work at least 40 hours per week. Start and end dates will be based on availability and business need. Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.

Pay = $22 per hour

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Intern, Service Desk Analyst will be exposed to all facets of our organization's Infrastructure and Operations Department. They will spend time on the Service Desk answering the phone, work with the Service Desk Analysts in problem resolution and hardware and software installation. The Intern, Service Desk Analyst will be exposed to UNIX and Storage Administration, Network Administration, Server Administration, and Voice Over IP (VoIP) Administration. The position will also work on general Infrastructure management and administration, and on tasks related to IT Asset Management, IT Project Management and Service Desk Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Respond to incoming user phone calls and walk-up requests.
2. Provide First-level support of various technology hardware and software issues and requests.
3. Troubleshoot technology issues to resolution or escalate in accordance with defined procedures.
4. Triaging incoming incidents and requests then routing to appropriate support team.
5. Document user interactions, actions taken, and resolutions within the ticketing management system.
6. On behalf of IT users, follow up with support teams regarding the status and expected completion of incidents and requests.
7. Follow up with IT users to gather more information, confirm their issue was resolved, or ensure the requested service was provided.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Coach users on the installation and use of company provided technology hardware and software.
2. Research issues and/or interact with co-workers to find solutions.
3. Recommend improvements to the IT Service Desk operations, standards, and procedures.
4. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 60 credit hours with an accredited college or university.
  • Preference may be given to those pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science.
