Job Description

The Kansas City Missouri site of the UMKC School of Pharmacy is looking for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator known for their problem-solving skills and ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships. This position will be involved with procurement across the unit and report to the Director of Research and Graduate Studies

The Division of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences is dedicated to providing the highest quality and comprehensive graduate and professional education in drug delivery, physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, synthetic medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. With access to state-of-the-art equipment and surrounding resources, our students are well prepared to meet the latest challenges in groundbreaking research after graduating from the university, thus making a significant impact and contribution to society.

Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of follow through and work ethic, and impeccable customer service skills to assist the Director in maintaining a thriving research and educational environment. Must be adaptable and flexible in an environment that is growing and changing daily.

Duties include but are not limited to:

* Work with faculty, staff, and students to place orders for their needs, and follow through with ensuring the items arrive in good condition.

  • Maintain a purchasing card in good standing with reconciliations
  • Work with vendors to minimize the cost of purchases for the unit.
  • Input, revise, store and retrieve correspondence, charts, tables on word processing/personal computer equipment using machine formatting/utility capabilities and source documents in order to record/update/produce copy of correspondence, etc.
  • As needed and with notice, provide support for shipping and receiving in the unit.
  • Other related duties to assist the research and teaching mission of the unit
Shift

9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday (flexible)

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent and

* At least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience with procurement preferably in an academic setting

Anticipated Hiring Range

$17.00 to $18.50 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.

Other Information

This is a full-time benefit eligible staff position, up to 30 hours per week. Position is eligible for a hybrid work-from-home schedule up to 10 hours per week.
