TITLE

Coordinator, Student Union Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The position assists with the daily operations of the Student Union at Hubbard Hall, including building reservations, event set-ups, and the scheduling of student employees. Initiates work orders and reports maintenance problems to Facilities. Coordinates with the Art Department for the display of student art in the student union gallery. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained and performance is based on completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with University Policies and Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Assistant Director, Reservation Services

Supervises: Student Assistants and Information Desk Attendants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:



  1. Manage Student Union operations including the daily set-up of rooms and maintenance of facilities.
  2. Assist in updating and ensuring compliance of building policies and procedures, including advertising in the SU, internal tenants, and reservation policies.
  3. Inspect building for maintenance and custodial needs.
  4. Serve as a liaison to facilities management for maintenance and custodial to maintain proper functioning, building care, cleanliness and maintenance.
  5. Submit work orders and track the progress of reported maintenance issues to Facilities Management via the work order system.
  6. Assist and collaborate with the Assistant Director, Reservation Services on Hubbard Hall scheduling through Mazevo.
  7. Attend bi-weekly meetings with Chartwell's Catering regarding details of upcoming events taking place in the union.
  8. Provide assessment data to contribute to the Student Union annual report.
  9. Work with the Assistant Director of Reservation Services to implement bi-annual training sessions for TWU departments and student organizations.
  10. Coordinate with the Visual Arts Department for the display of student art in the student union gallery.
  11. Participate in division and university committees as needed.

  • Performs other duties as requested.


EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required in job related field of study.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of facility administration, student development or a closely related area including operations, reservations, scheduling, and supervision preferred. Additional job-related experience may substitute for required degree on a year for year basis.

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee may be required to travel. The employee may be required to lift 30 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

All employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. Employee may work outdoors and may not be protected from weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment. Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources and Risk Management within 24 hours of the incident.
