Introduction

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) builds community by promoting the joy of reading and learning. LCPL provides free and equal access to a variety of library resources, programs and innovative technologies to enhance the quality of life and meet the entire community's informational, educational, and cultural interests.


Job Summary

The Visual Communications Coordinator is responsible for LCPL's look and feel. This position develops and implements consistent branding standards across a system of 10 branches and provides tools and training for staff to produce cohesive branded materials. As the lead designer, the Visual Communications Coordinator also creates print and digital marketing materials, including interior and exterior signage, promotional products and social media content. Specific key responsibilities include:
1. Develop and maintain LCPL's branding standards, public-facing and internal:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all brand/logo-related needs.
* Provide branded templates for staff to use as needed.

2. Create print and digital promotional collateral for:
* External marketing campaigns targeted to reach new library users.
* Select major programs and community partnerships.
* LCPL services and resources.

3. Provide internal visual design support:
* Develop videos and other materials needed for training/orientation.
* Update and maintain screen content, wall content and signage in branches.
* Add/update webpages as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.

Candidates will be expected to show samples of their portfolios and will be given an assignment.
Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday daytime, but occasional night, weekend and holiday work is required. Software platforms are subject to change.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field and two (2) years of related work experience. Previous work in Graphic Design strongly preferred. Other preferred qualifications include:
* Mastery of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and Canva Enterprise.
* Demonstrated experience in content creation and/or marketing.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
* Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidates will undergo background checks a required. Must be able to lift equipment up to 40 pounds.
