Required to visit the NYC office one day per month.

Position Summary: To direct handle certain subrogation (subro) recoveries; to monitor and oversee subro counsel on large subro cases; to update management on the status of large subro cases; to update WINS for accurate open/pending subro matters; handle recoveries (complete Allocation Forms; reimburse deductibles, pay subro related expenses including contingency fees).



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct handling of subrogation on claims where the recoverable is less than or equal to $50,000, which includes developing our theory of negligence against a tortfeasor, drafting and sending demand letters to that tortfeasor and/or their insurance company, and negotiating settlements.
  • Keep WINS current by properly documenting claim files as to the current status and proposed strategies of subro matters in and out of litigation.
  • Maintain and manage the WINS Recovery Screen by opening new potential Subro matters, closing subro matter after recovery or when otherwise closed and entering expected recovery (may require input from claim management).
  • Update notes as to subro activity, including offers, demands, strategy.
  • Prepare an disseminate regular periodic reports for senior management throughout the year outlining the current status and legal theories for recovery of significant matters.
  • Process Allocation Forms immediately.
  • Strategize with attorneys includes being able to read and understand pleadings and suggest edits to them and propose legal arguments to attorneys.
  • Attend trials and mediations as necessary.
  • Attend necessary subrogation training and a willingness to conduct training with the staff when requested (to maximize recoveries).

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Property or GL claims experience is required.
  • Experience with litigation management and legal terminology is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products
  • Experience with ImageRight and WINS preferred.


The salary range for this role is$64,600 - $116,200. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
