TITLE Navigator, Nursing - Denton JOB SUMMARY Performs responsible work in providing comprehensive support and guidance to TWU BSN track students in the College of Nursing. Responsible for working with students to enhance knowledge, understanding, and skills essential for academic success, personal development, and leadership. Duties encompass advising students on TWU programs and services. Work is performed independently under limited supervision, and performance is based on the completion of assignments and the results obtained. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Grant Program Director Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following: * Provides guidance and supports students in understanding program requirements, course selection, and degree pathways for the traditional BSN track. * Assists students in understanding current state and university rules for reading assessment, course repetition, credit limits, and related rules needed for timely graduation. * Advises students in the traditional BSN track both individually and in groups. * Guides students in accessing various health services, to improve retention and graduation. * Analyzes and processes degree plans, grade change forms, and other required forms. * Monitors student progress, identifies potential challenges, and develops strategies to support student success. * Use computer software and university data systems to review student files and update them when needed. * Maintains advising files, electronic records, and other advising records for functional continuity. * Attends regular training and development sessions. ADDITIONAL DUTIES * Establishes and maintains contact with various academic components to clarify and document departmental expectations. * Supports retention efforts and promotes solid relationships with students, staff, and faculty. * Participates in orientations, open houses, and other outreach activities. * Assists with program-related tasks, such as scheduling and facilitating workshops or events. * Serves on campus committees and task forces as assigned. * Performs other duties as requested. EDUCATION Bachelor's degree required. EXPERIENCE Prior experience working with students in higher education preferred. REQUIREMENT Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - The following are essential: * Working knowledge of office practices and methods. * Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours. * Ability to perform mathematical calculations and/or verify information accurately. * Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgement based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. * Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. * Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing. * Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. * Ability to sue a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.
