The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise-wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Job Summary

Lead multidisciplinary teams (2 - 7 members) in the installation, configuration and maintenance of networked information systems. Within assignment parameters, defines project scope and resources required, prepares project plans and directs team efforts. Usually oversees multiple projects. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Network Services management and staff, user management, team members. This position typically will advise and counsel: team members. This position will supervise: NA (work direction only).

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Monitor and manage network infrastructures and software.

Job Duty 2 -
Test and evaluate network systems.

Job Duty 3 -
Provide technical and analytical support to the development of new networking methodologies, technology or software.

Job Duty 4 -
Develop or lead others in development of project or system related documentation.

Job Duty 5 -
Provide feedback and strategic recommendations to management.

Job Duty 6 -
Develop technical processes supporting networked systems.

Job Duty 7 -
May deliver presentations related to assigned area(s) of systems support.

Job Duty 8 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in enterprise and data center networking.
  • In-depth knowledge of switching and routing protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, STP
  • Skilled at troubleshooting complex network problems across multiple vendor platforms.
  • Ability to design and deploy new network and firewall architectures for enterprise and research environments.
  • Familiarity with network management technologies such as Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller, Cisco Catalyst Center, and Juniper Mist
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation tools such as Python, Ansible, Netbox, and/or Nautobot for management of network infrastructure
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and the Panorama management platform.
  • Familiarity with Tufin Orchestration Suite (SecureTrack, SecureChange) for management of firewall policies
  • Experience supporting Palo Alto GlobalProtect and/or other endpoint VPN solutions
  • Experience supporting site-to-site VPN topologies and configuration using IPsec and/or other protocols

This job requires advanced level design and maintenance skills in network architecture including applicable systems and network software and hardware.
