Department Information
(MISSION) The Office of New Student & Transition Programs fosters the successful transition and engagement of new and continuing students into the Georgia Tech community.

(VISION) NSTP will be leaders in the field of orientation, retention, and transition services. Through innovative initiatives and leadership opportunities, NSTP will empower students to become impactful leaders in their communities locally, nationally, and globally.

(GOALS) 1. Develop, implement, and assess innovative programs, services, and leadership opportunities in the pursuit of orientation, retention, and transition excellence.
2. Educate on Institute culture, expectations, history, and traditions to create engagement and a lasting connection to the GT campus and community.
3. Provide students with the support and foundation of skills necessary for personal, professional, and academic success.
4. Provide a dynamic learning lab for students and professional staff to develop and practice leadership skills, professional knowledge, and core competencies.
5. Encourage the development of a holistic view of diversity that promotes an inclusive community and celebration of difference.
6. Focus on creating strong community partnerships and delivering quality customer service to students, parents, and others.

(JOB SUMMARY) Responsible for the design, implementation, management, and evaluation for one or more Student Life Programs. Serves as a campus agent in promoting programs and coordinates student involvement and support for those opportunities. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: student, parents, faculty members, representatives of community organizations. This position typically will advise and counsel: students and campus representatives. This position may supervise: students, interns and staff.

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of New Student & Transfer Programs will coordinate and develop New Student and Transition Programs. Programmatic focus will be FASET Orientation, along with additional transitional programs as needed. The Assistant Director will assist the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of New Student and Transition Programs in the management of the office and programs and provide administrative support as needed. This position will work with campus partners to coordinate orientation programs. Additionally, the Assistant Director will train student leader staff. This position will interact on a regular basis: students, parents, and staff members. This position typically will advise and counsel: students and campus representatives. This position will supervise: N/A

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provides administrative leadership and support services for one or more unique New Student and Transition Programs. Advises student programs, organizations and groups

Job Duty 2 -
Oversees all administrative aspects of the program including budget development, office resources, records management, etc.

Job Duty 3 -
Responsible for project direction, coordination, planning, design, and management

Job Duty 4 -
Participates in creating assessment tools and evaluates program initiatives

Job Duty 5 -
Serves as a liaison between students and staff

Job Duty 6 -
Provide resources and training for students related to safety and liability issues involved in programming

Job Duty 7 -
Writes and disseminates material to assist students in making informed decisions and/ or explain university policies and procedures

Job Duty 8 -
Participate in recruitment, selection, and formal leadership training of student leaders

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or related (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).

Required Experience
Three to four years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with student information systems for higher education (ie Banner)

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs

Preferred Qualifications

3-6 years of experience planning for and administering Orientation sessions

Previous experience with student information systems for higher education (Slate)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Ability to work independently. Ability to multi task with competing deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge or project management processes. Basic knowledge of Office applications.

SKILLS
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written). Exceptional organizational skills.

Salary range: $63,500.00-$65,000.00 commensurate with experience

Location: Hybrid (Atlanta, GA)
