Job Title: Electrical Technician

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Location: Danville, Virginia

Contract Type: Permanent

Electrical Technician

What is this role about?

Individual will report to and receive primary guidance/instructions form Maintenance Supervisor concerning preventative and corrective maintenance on processing equipment, processing vehicles and building and grounds at the JTI Leaf Services complexes. This individual will be a hands-on technician that will have the responsibility to provide support for mechanical or electrical issues to ensure the processing facility is operated in a safe and efficient manner. Individual will be responsible for working in a team environment at times and will be required to treat others with respect and fairness as they work together to accomplish one common goal. Learn to use proper resources that are available that will help you perform duties, help develop skills and share information with others so everyone is on the same page. Maintain (tools, vehicles, equipment, work areas) in a clean orderly manner, complete (daily, weekly, monthly and annual) check list for equipment maintenance, ensure submission of workorders in SAP maintenance system, follow up on them to ensure completion and properly closed in collaboration with maintenance support associate.

Responsibilities



  • Consult with Maintenance Supervisor on assignment of task, and provide hands on support for mechanical or electrical issues preventative and corrective. Submit Maintenance Work-orders in SAP Maintenance tracking system, verify when work order task assigned have been fulfilled (document hrs. parts and corrective action).
  • Be proactive to provide mechanical or electrical support to processing supervisors at the time of production in the event of breakdown requiring emergency corrective actions to ensure the resumption of the flow of product in a timely manner.
  • Assume accountable for assigned task and ensure they are completed in a timely, professional and safe manner, eliminating possibility of downtime or requiring rework of task. Provide feedback to managers concerning improvements to reduce downtime or equipment failure while helping to reduce cost and improve the overall efficiency of the processing facility.
  • Strive to be a dedicated team member working in collaboration with Maintenance, Processing, Quality and EHS teams to ensure processing equipment is functioning at optimum mechanical efficiency to support the achievement of meeting customer targets.
  • Align with all EHS standards i.e. labor safety, fire protection, environmental and hygienic company rules, equipment safety, etc. Ensure the usage of the correct PPE when completing assigned task, equipment safety guarding is reinstalled after completion of work, the correct tools are being used to complete task, tools are clean, properly stored and inspected before and after usage to verify safety compliance.
  • Monitor colleagues, contractors, visitors working at processing facility and provide feedback to the individual or a manager when unsafe actions are being performed, proper PPE is not being used or additional safety measures need to be investigated.



Requirements



  • Associate Degree with a mechanical or electrical focus or High School Diploma or equilvent with 5 years of mechanical or electrical hands on experience in a industrial environment
  • Mechanical/electrician experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. New professionals to work force with mechanical or electrical degree will be considered.
  • Possess strong communication and writing skills in English for effectively interacting with individuals.
  • Self-Motivated, ability to work in a team environment. Perficient computer skills, open minded.
