Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will include, standardization of current millwork safety practices, including direct assistance developing, writing, and supporting communication and training, to include SOP's, to millwork production associates.
  • Monitor execution/completion of millwork associate training.
  • Routine ongoing engagement in millwork site specific Safety Committee's and supporting ongoing functional safety planning.
  • Complete, implement and monitor energy control program for the millwork sector, standardized format, but tailored to individual facilities.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance regarding equipment inspection and maintenance processes.
  • Organizes and facilitates millwork region safety calls and drives and assigns necessary deliverable actions from the discussions.
  • Drive the use of leading activity tools and data with leadership and production associates. Onsite time communicating and helping practice the use of these tools is expected.
  • Onsite time evaluating safety of processes to identify ergonomic, struck-by, hand, machine, loading and other hazard exposures independently and with production management is expected.
  • Travel to Millwork locations in Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN, Tulsa, OK, Kansas City, MO, Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Boise, ID, Portland, MA, Hatfield, MA, Milton, FL, Grand Junction, CO and Orlando, FL.
  • Train and support leaders (not necessarily mgt) on effective safety meeting engagement.
  • Monitor for industrial hygiene (IH) needs, implement, and manage IH surveys and subsequent control measure where appropriate.
  • Continuous monitoring of incidents that occur with appropriate and expedient follow up as necessary.
  • Evaluation of and/or assisting with incident investigations and provide feedback on contributor and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and identify millwork safety trends related to leading and lagging metrics, develop strategies to improve injury prevention.
  • Has lead responsibility for new/acquired operations safety needs, e.g., safety equipment, orientation implementation, safe work flows etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: College degree preferred, plus a minimum of 5 plus years' experience in progressively responsible positions with safety emphasis in a manufacturing or production environment. Will require 40 - 50% travel.

Preferred Qualifications: Certification by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, or American Society of Safety Professionals preferred.
