Overview
Trustmark Investment Management operates as a fiduciary in the management and advising of client assets and accounts, inclusive of asset allocation, security selection, trading implementation, and other activities as required of a regulated banking institution. The main responsibilities of this position are to conduct research and analysis on financial markets, securities, and investment opportunities; support the process and functions of financial planning; analyze and assist with the overall function of the investment management group, while acting in a fiduciary capacity at all times. Analysts cross train in multiple disciplines and can develop over time into Portfolio Management, Research, and/or Financial Planning tracks. This position may be filled as a Level I or II. Additional responsibilities and qualifications apply.
Responsibilities
Analyze and maintain monthly quantitative equity models, buy lists, asset allocation programs, performance monitoring, and related systems.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining all investment, accounting, communication, and analytical research systems for consistency and accuracy.
- Analyze and monitor current and prospective securities holdings: individual equity, mutual funds, fixed income, ETFs, and investment strategies.
- Assist Portfolio Managers with account management, trading, and ad hoc analysis as needed.
- Support Portfolio Managers with research, reporting, and preparation for client meetings and presentations.
- Analyze robustness and effectiveness of current quantitative methods and make recommendations for improvements in inputs or factors.
- Write and/or assist in writing commentaries and market research for internal or external constituents.
- Construct data and visualization dashboards for Investment Management
- Financial Planning
- Assist in creating and customizing financial plans for both current and prospective clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Level II Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to Securities Analyst I, particularly with respect to complex and/or unusual problems.
- Trade and manages accounts under the leadership and oversight of a Portfolio Manager.
- Participate in presentations to internal and external constituents.
- Participate in meetings, analysis, and presentations with the Tailored Wealth Team to current and prospective clients.
- Manage projects and improvements in the Investment Management group as needed, while balancing the other needs and requirements of the role.
- Prepare and/or assist in preparing financial plans with oversight from the Director of Financial Planning and CIO. Presentation of financial plans with clients and prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Science, or related discipline
- Understanding of or interest in financial markets
- Knowledge and application of statistical and quantitative methods
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Adept in analytical problem solving
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Basic working knowledge of asset allocation, valuation methodologies, corporate metrics, technical analysis, and modeling preferred.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Factset, Morningstar, or comparable financial data platforms preferred.
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools, methods, and languages (SQL, Python, R, etc.) preferred.
- One or more of the following preferred:
- MBA
- CFP Designation or Candidate
- CFA Charterholder or Candidate
- CMT Charterholder or Candidate
- One (1) year experience in investment management, securities analysis, data analysis or similar endeavor in business or finance.
Level II Additional Qualifications:
- Two or more years of related experience in the financial industry
- Displays an in-depth understanding of US financial markets
- Able to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Application of statistical and quantitative methods
- In depth working knowledge of asset analytics: Valuation, corporate metrics, technical analysis, and modeling
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Willingness and ability to travel for presentations and meetings as needed or required
- One or more of the following:
- MBA
- CFP Designation or Candidate
- CFA Charterholder or Candidate
- CMT Charterholder or Candidate
- One (1) year experience in investment management, securities analysis, data analysis or similar endeavor in business or finance.
- Or professional training
- Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screens.
