Position Purpose
The General Manager (GM) Manteca establishes large-scale product manufacturing plans and schedules and directs the overall multiple manufacturing (Bottling, Cellar and Maintenance) operations to ensure products are made in adherence with quality and cost objectives. This role formulates and implements manufacturing policies and programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the Manteca facility. The GM promotes strong collaboration and shared vision between cross-functional leaders throughout the site and organization. The role is accountable for developing and attaining short-and-long-term financial, operational, safety and technology objectives to support Delicato's overall business strategy.
Functional Responsibility
- Oversees, directs, and manages activities and the leadership team's performance in areas of responsibility
- Drives and models company culture and holds self, peers, and direct reports accountable for demonstrating a constructive company culture through influential, personal behavior and actions
- Communicates the company's vision and mission; develops and implements the strategies that guide the direction of the business in areas of responsibility
- Identifies, analyzes, and drives the competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, new industry developments, best practices, standards, etc.; maintains awareness of regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continually improve operations
- Owns and oversees the development of the rolled-up budget, and conducts financial planning and analysis to ensure budget and other financial goals are in line with business strategy
- Directs the optimization of resources and results; collaborates with cross-functional leaders to position and integrate business functions and remove obstacles to accomplish key objectives and high impact initiatives
- Drives strategic alignment, guides leadership team, and works cross-functionally in the development of staffing plans; attracts, motivates, and retains a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve the company's goals and objectives
- Promotes and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
- Aligns leaders on change initiatives, leads the way, and prepares the company for success in a continually changing environment

- Inspires, guides, and develops direct reports; identifies and mentors successor; fully engages in the GPS (Performance Management) process; provides high-quality feedback, and ensures proper GPS documentation of employee performance, recognition, and deficiencies
Essential Duties
- Works collaboratively as a part of the Operations Leadership Team with the EVP - Chief Winemaker, VP Winery Operations, and key stakeholders to develop technical plans, production schedules and strategies that results in the safe, efficient and cost-effective large scale wine production volumes ranging from 11 to 16 mil cases and 90k to 130k tons annually at Manteca
- Leads & directs efforts of Manteca Bottling, Cellar and Maintenance leadership staff, including directors, managers and others in their roles and responsibilities to meet objectives in safety, quality, cost, production efficiency and customer service; develops the talent of direct reports by partnering on training and development plans for each employee
- Manages strategic facility expansion planning including collaborating with engineering team in the development and updating of a long term (5 year) capital plan; manages individual capital projects as assigned
- Develops aligned divisional strategies to execute the annual business plan
- Drives process improvements and daily operation performance utilizing strong Lean tools and methodology
- Drives employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing reliability
- Collaborates with staff to determine the most cost effective and efficient ways to utilize internal verses external labor
- Performs follow-up analysis to identify and resolve recurring operational issues
- Proactively contributes to the company goal of zero accidents; understands and ensures compliance to all plant safety requirements. Drives behavioral safety culture
- Oversees, communicates and coordinates with leadership team to ensure wine quality focus, large scale winery production practices , maximum productivity, project delivery where applicable and overall process/performance effectiveness
- Understands, communicates, monitors and enforces all regulatory requirements which includes: Safety, HACCP, ISO, cGMP, DOE, FSSC and other applicable business critical standards
- Establishes and maintains technical standards, documentation, specifications and procedures for technical activities in accordance with the latest industry/legal requirements and best practices
- Collaborates with finance to create and execute applicable budgets to ensure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered and met
- Manages department costs and participates in budget review meetings; Continuously identifies opportunities and implements sustainable solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality
- Manages FTE levels based on production demands, making headcount decisions/recommendations as business needs change

Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- BA in Business or related field; MBA preferred
- 10+ years manager or above experience in food/beverage manufacturing
- 5+ years director/VP level leadership, Lean manufacturing skills, project management expertise
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional influence management skills including the ability to manage cross-functional resources without direct reporting relationships
- Excellent communication skills both formal and informal and at all levels of the organization
- Solid finance knowledge
- Strong computer application skills including Microsoft Project
Working Conditions
- General office environment with occasional travel
- Required to drive automotive vehicle or equipment
- Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
- Extended Hours
- Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Occasionally may be required to lift and carry cases of wine

Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $176,085.00 to $275,415.00. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
