Position Detail:

We currently have an opening for an experienced IS Analyst for this hybrid role based in CT.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations, the Information Systems (IS) Analyst is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance to all technology within the Company and its associated systems. The IS Analyst builds and maintains trust and confidence with all US and Canadian Operations Teams.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:



  • Provide exceptional customer service by way of technical support in OT/IT Environments;
  • Lead assigned projects and provide subject matter expertise to diagnose and remedy escalated issues by the business units, project stakeholders and/or other members of the IS team;
  • Coordinate with external vendors from a project management and technical aspect;
  • Collaborate with IS team to improve IS design and build standards; ensure standards are adhered to;
  • Monitor and action assigned tickets in the queue while paying careful attention to requirements and timelines;
  • Monitor and maintain systems performance and troubleshoot outages;
  • Provide feedback for the future of the technology practice (evaluating vendors, products, solutions, etc.);
  • Assist with infrastructure designing and scoping solutions for new initiatives;
  • Escalate critical incidents as necessary while providing stakeholder communication;
  • Contribute/develop documentation of processes, systems, and configurations;
  • Support the configuration, installation and testing of current and/or new systems;
  • Use industry standard monitoring and analysis tools as required;
  • Assist in the creation, support, and maintenance of operational documentation;
  • Adhere to fundamental change management principles and core IT processes based on ITIL;
  • Work with 3rd party technical support provider(s);
  • Expand knowledge and activities to increase understanding of support to SCADA/controls environments;
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned;


  • Comply with all FirstLight policies and procedures.


Job Qualifications / Skills


  • College degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent, with additional training in digital control systems;
  • 5+ years' experience as a network/systems administrator supporting IT environments based on ITIL frameworks with a proven track record of excellent service;
  • Ability to travel to our US operation sites;
  • Valid Drivers License;
  • Willingness to participate in regular IS team on-call rotations (including holidays, evenings and weekends);
  • Excels in both a team environment as well as independently;
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to progress/improve processes and functions;
  • Understanding of urgency and caution when operating in a power systems environment;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills;
  • Extremely high attention to detail, well organized and strong documentation skills within Office 365;
  • Strong understanding of security principles;
  • In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud platforms Azure, O365 and SharePoint;
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards including Incident Response, life cycle management, Change management and Architecture review process;
  • Hands on experience configuring data acquisition devices such as PLCs. SEL RTAC, Allen Bradley, Schneider or Modicon preferred;
  • Understanding of Plant Operations Technology (OT) equipment and operation reliance;
  • Working knowledge of NERC CIP compliancy as it relates to Cyber security at facilities;
  • Implementation and design/support experience with the following technologies including (but not limited to):

    • Microsoft Windows server infrastructure
    • Active Directory, Authentication, SSO & Identity Management
    • Collaboration and Messaging
    • Exchange
    • Teams
    • SharePoint
    • Cloud Technologies
    • O365, Azure, Paas, SaaS
    • File & printer services
    • VMWARE


  • Preference for the following certifications:

    • MCPITP, MCSE, MCSA Server Certification or proven experience
    • Microsoft Server- AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, IIS
    • Microsoft Office and Azure 365 administration;
    • VMware vSphere virtualization and vCenter management platform;
    • PowerShell scripting knowledge;


  • ITIL/CISSP/MCSE/CCN/PMP/WMWARE/CET certification;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors, and employees under stressful conditions.
