Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energeticPavingSuperintendentfor Central Pennsylvania.

ThePavingSuperintendentposition is within our Highway Region, where we are a leader in asphalt paving, products, and heavy civil construction.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and managing multiple crews and engage in construction. APaving Superintendentshould ensure that the crew always operates within HRI's safety standards.They will plan and assign work, track and account for labor hours and productivity, and supervise activities of a construction a crew.Travel will be a requirement for this position.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the companyas safety policies and procedures for yourself and entire crew
  • Supervise work activities of crew members in daily activities
  • Sets productivity goals and ensures obtainment of materials for crews to meet job budget in a timely manner
  • Places orders and receives/distributes materials to specified sections
  • Recommends repairs, supervises maintenance of tools and equipment, and determines work procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, and specifications
  • Schedules and reports manpower, project schedules, and materials with project team on a regular basis
  • Reviews the work of skilled trade workers and equipment operators
Education
  • Minimum 5 years in DOT and commercial paving with demonstrated skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driveras license with a clean driving history
  • Preferred certifications of first aid/CPR as well as OSHA 10 and/or 30 hour training
Skills
  • Ability to effectively supervise small to midsized groups
  • Layout ability with the use of auto levels, lasers, and other survey equipment
  • Knowledge of paving planning and scheduling
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Proper planning of activities and making on-the-spot decisions
  • Effective management of subcontractors
  • Experience in operating paver, skid steer, roller, MTV, and sealcoating equipment
Physical Requirements
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Some travel might be required
