Position Title:Facilities Access Control Specialist(Days) Department:Facilities Engineering Job Description:

General Description:

Under minimal supervision, researches, designs and implements unit specific and facility wide access control systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Researches, designs and implements unit specific and facility wide access control systems. Includes both manual and automated system solutions that enhance and support OU Health operational and business performance.
  • Supports all users of applications, equipment and systems.
  • Provides timely implementation and ongoing maintenance of manual locking systems, door hardware and automated access control equipment.
  • Installs and maintains typical door hardware normally associated with the Locksmith trade and with automated building access control systems.
  • Reads, attends appropriate training/educational programs, benchmarks with colleagues and otherwise remains abreast of contemporary and best practices.
  • Seeks to continually improve processes, systems and consequent services. Uses tools and equipment appropriately.
  • Provides the information necessary to maintain the system of metrics designed to measure effectiveness and timely responsiveness to work order tickets created through appropriate dispatch service.
  • Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.
  • Adheres to all safety policies, procedures and practices, including the wearing of protective clothing and gear.
  • Consistently uses tools and equipment correctly on the job.
  • Under minimal supervision, researches, designs and implements unit specific and facility wide access control systems.

General Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: None required.

Experience: 1 or more years of professional work experience required. 2 or more years of experience in healthcare or similar environment preferred.

OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret and resolve complex technical issues in regard to the operation of critical automated access control systems and equipment.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills are required to interact with others and discuss complex and sophisticated concepts and systems. May be required to communicate with external groups consisting of, but are not limited to the following groups: OU Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, State Department of Health, and Fire Marshalls Office.
