JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Provides supportive services during mobile crisis response and crisis intervention services to clients, families, community partners and referral sources. Supports clients, their families, community partners and crisis clinical support staff including LMHC and Crisis Specialists during crisis assessments, crisis stabilization, and crisis intervention in person in a community setting, by telephone, and video to recipients in crisis. Facilitates appropriate linkage and referral to ongoing services. Provides supervision with a focus on resilience and strength based approach to mobile crisis peers. Coordinates continuity of care for clients upon warm hand off to Crisis Stabilization Receiving Centers, inpatient facilities, detox/substance treatment facilities, and/or other social services providers including mental health providers. Assists with ROI and HIPPA compliance best practice

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in crisis assessments, safety planning, return to use prevention planning, overdose prevention planning of individuals at a local community hospital once discharged from hospital care, local police department, school, jail, or other community-based sites, and facilitate appropriate linkage and referral to on-going services.
  • Assists in emergency mental health consultations with physicians, law enforcement officials, school officials, clinical on call staff and other community and/or state agency representatives in an effort to resolve mental health and/or substance use disorder crisis regarding residents in our service area.
  • Assists with pre-screenings for both the state operated hospital and private psychiatric hospitals to determine the need for either voluntary or involuntary psychiatric hospital admissions. Coordinates appropriate staffing with clinical team members as indicated which may include assisting with referrals to Substance treatment level of care and/or psychiatric inpatient care
  • Assists individuals in making safety plans, discharge plans, overdose prevention plans, return to use prevention plans. Provides follow up services as assigned or assists with team member follow up planning/scheduling for client safety and well-being.
  • Assists management when assigned by mentoring and working alongside new staff and/or interns to model and provide instruction on mobile crisis response and/or co-response with first responders
  • Attend staff meetings, clinical staffing meetings, and other internal meetings as assigned. Participates on committees as assigned, including quality assurance functions.
  • Assists in the supervision of crisis peers in training and/or Certified Peer Support professionals including hiring, onboarding, training, de-briefing, and overall support.
  • Make necessary decisions in the absence of Crisis Coordinator to assure program continuity. Act in consultation with other Coordinators, Managers, Assistant Directors, Directors, Executive Leadership and Administrative staff.
  • Assist Crisis Leaders with program planning, training, and evaluation including supervision with certified peer support professional staff and/or peers in training
  • Provides consultation recommendations and support to Crisis Team members to offer peer feedback and guide change process and recovery support as indicated
  • Demonstrates an ability to manage crisis situations, including danger to self and others, to ensure the safety and stabilization of clients and to make appropriate referrals/linkages when clinically indicated.
  • Travel across all counties IN Crisis Team serves as required.

* Skill in developing problem solving strategies.

* Knowledge of the criminal justice system as it affects with youth and adults

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Requires High School Diploma or GED equivalent with Bachelor/Associate degree preferred.

Required Certification/Licensure

* CRSS credential required.
* Certified Peer Support Professional, Indiana Crisis Peer Supervisor Certification

* Valid driver's license, and safe driving history required.

Pay Range:

$17.35--$24.30
