As the Associate Process Engineer, you collaborate and deliver results by supporting Operations to assure that daily quality, cost, and productivity goals are achieved. You will work to ensure production feasibility, investigate root cause, and implement manufacturing strategies while establishing procedures, supporting new product launches, verifying processes, and assisting in troubleshooting for all production areas. Proactively identify Lean improvement opportunities while leading, managing, and executing projects. Be action oriented in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve quality, and enhance productivity with a safety-first mindset.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Maintain and grow existing and new production areas in partnership with site leaders. Develop, communicate, and participate in implementing manufacturing process strategies to produce defect free products that consistently meet quality, demand, customer needs, yield cost savings, and improve efficiency. (30%)

Lead the development, procurement, start up, validation efforts and implementation of equipment for production applications. (20%)

Responsible for identifying, developing, and communicating product, process, and equipment requirements to improve process capability and process robustness. (20%)

Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to streamline processes and eliminate waste. (20%)

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, quality, and supply chain to resolve issues, implement changes, and achieve production goals. (5%)

Provide process support for the front office departments, such as data management, documentation, & reporting. (5%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Industrial Engineering or in a related discipline, required.
  • Project management experience leading large capital investments, preferred.
  • Process/Production/Industrial Engineer or a related occupation, preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma/6S Experience, preferred.
  • ISO 9000 Quality Systems experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing processes and associated technologies preferred.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Language: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or senior leadership.
  • Analysis/Reading: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, CAD or similar manufacturing software.
  • Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Leadership: Ability to set clear, meaningful, challenging, and attainable goals, while creating a positive work environment where all staff are motivated to do their best.
  • Experience with CNC machinery programming and operation helpful.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Ability to work effectively in independent and team environments and willingness to coach others.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing plant. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic travel up to 5% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is in West Chicago, IL.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$70,400 - $112,600/ year
