ISO New England is the not-for-profit, independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England's ongoing transition to clean energy.

ISO New England is seeking an experienced Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer that will be responsible for all aspects of system administration, architectural design and ongoing maintenance of large Red Hat Linux and Kubernetes cluster deployments residing on public and private cloud and physical systems.

In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers dedicated the reliable operation of the ISO New England's markets infrastructure services. Your expertise will be needed to create, configure, manage and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters. Your contributions will ensure the organization accelerates its adoption of cloud technologies by identify potential migration opportunities. On a daily basis, you will be responsible for the defense of our IT systems by maintaining secure configurations, evaluating vulnerabilities, and ensuring the environment is up-to-date.

How you will make an impact:



  • Deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux server systems utilizing Ansible, Python, BASH, etc.
  • Deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of Kubernetes clusters utilizing Terraform
  • Monitor server performance and take appropriate actions (e.g. tune)
  • Perform operating system upgrades and assuring the quality of fixes and enhancements
  • Assist IT departments in analyzing and resolving operating system and application problems
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with root-cause analyses
  • Engage with policy and procedure, change management, and service desk processes during daily activities
  • Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure effective and efficient changes to the IT infrastructure
  • Assist with product evaluations, architectural reviews and solution development for new capabilities



What you need to be successful in this role:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, and 3+ years of experience required. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Deep understanding of Unix operating system and of Broadcom Tanzu Kubernetes platform including proficiency in troubleshooting performance and operational issues.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools and implementing pipelines.
  • Experience with automation solutions such as Terraform, Ansible Core, Ansible Tower
  • Demonstrated abilities with DevOps methodologies, including utilizing GitOps to manage infrastructure
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills, as well as strong team orientation and written and verbal communication skills
  • Desired not required:

    • Experience with other Cloud Kubernetes Distribution such as EKS, AKS or GKE
    • Familiarity with backup solutions (Rubrik)
    • Understanding of monitoring tools (CloudWatch, DynaTrace, etc.)
