Job Summary

Denver Health, a leading Level One Trauma Center, and an Orthopedic Center of Excellence, is seeking a full-time board-certified/board-eligible physiatrist for a neurologic/trauma rehabilitation position. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, contributing to cutting-edge trauma and rehabilitation services. This individual will thrive in a team environment, relate effectively with colleagues and patients, and possess strong teaching skills and research interests.

Clinical Responsibilities: Provide general inpatient services along with general and specialty rehabilitation clinics and electrodiagnostic outpatient clinics.

Teaching Responsibilities: Participation in the education of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents, medical students, and allied health care professionals. Provide mentorship and training to medical residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals in EMG techniques and neuromuscular rehabilitation.

Research Responsibilities: Active pursuit and participation in research activities as well as mentoring residents and other faculty in research endeavors.

Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose patients, record symptoms, recommend appropriate treatment regimens, and monitor the progress or not of treatment. (20%)
  • Cooperate and liaise with medical personnel such as surgeons, neurologists, and primary care experts to review a patient's details and information. (10%)
  • Determine the role of physical therapy in the treatment plan. (5%)
  • Direct patients on the appropriate techniques to adopt for exercises. (5%)
  • Use injections to nullify pain, bring relief, and reinstate functionality. (5%)
  • Provide nutrition and health advice or counseling to patients undergoing treatment. (5%)
  • Draft and create a physical exercise plan for each patient. (5%)
  • Prescribe and handle the patient's medication and treatment. (5%)
  • Prescribe complementary therapies such as medical acupuncture. (5%)
  • Monitor and assist medical personnel and counselors to provide psychosocial support to patients. (5%)
  • Coordinate and supervise other medical practitioners to optimize patient care. (5%)
  • Administer treatment, therapy, and care to restore functionality among patients of all ages. (5%)
  • Provide referrals to specialist clinics, rehabilitation centers, and therapy centers. (5%)
  • Act transparently with caregivers, patients, and patients' families and discuss recovery plans and needs moving forward. (5%)
  • Provide therapeutic intervention to patients by wrapping joints and limbs and fitting braces to support the patient. (5%)
  • Inoculate, inject, and insert cortisol into injured parts, ligaments, muscles, and joints to minimize swelling. (5%)

Education:

  • Doctorate Degree Medical degree from an accredited institution.
    Required

Work Experience:

  • less than 1 year related experience. Required

Licenses:

  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required and
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Computer skills preferred.
