The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking a talented and dynamic Director of Intake to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

Job Summary:

Share in the exciting experience of leadership within a behavioral health hospital setting. Utilize your Leadership skills to lead a diverse team of professions as Director of Intake/Admissions and become part of the leadership team. Report directly to the CEO and become a member of the hospital leadership team.

The opportunities and responsibilities for the position of Intake/Admission Director include providing call management, responding to crisis calls, completing and oversite of clinical evaluations for level of care, staffing directly with physicians, and oversite of all admissions and referrals. Intake/Admission Director provides direction to diverse Intake professional staff as well as providing and guiding vision for the department. Director of Intake/Admission assures easy access to behavioral health needs for patients, families, and external referral sources. Director is responsible for the department's budget, departmental policies and procedures, assures departmental regulatory compliance, service excellence, and data management/analysis. Working within an environment of care where service excellence and patient care is primary.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities.
  • Through knowledge of psychiatric services provided by hospital.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Requires a basic understanding of computers; and accurate data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance contracts and payors.
  • Knowledge of precertification for level of care.
  • Experience gathering and documenting medical information and psychiatric clinical data.
  • Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addition and recovery field.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families, and referral sources.
Education : LICSW, LPC, Ph.D., ie Registered Nurse-(Bachelors or Master's) prepared from an accredited college or university required. Experience in hospital setting or Intake/Admissions department is required. Previous experience in Mental Health related field preferred. Ph.D. or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university of social work, psychology, mental health or related field

Experience: One year Intake/Admissions experience or hospital experience required. Minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. A minimum of three (3) years of managing a professional/clinical team and responsible for staffing, budget, and process improvements.

Licensure/Certification: RN, LICSW, LPC, Ph.D., or applicable license per state regulations.
