Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7) Department/Organization: 214271 - Mechanical Engineering Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the PhD or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee. Additional Department Summary: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama is a seeking candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in combustion. Candidates with experience with high speed visualization of gasoline and diesel spray evolution is highly desirable. The candidate will be advised by Drs. Kalyan Srinivasan and Sundar Krishnan. Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Experience with high speed fluid dynamics, optics, visualization, chemical kinetics of fuels, and combustion. Preferred Qualifications: Strong analytical skills, including but not limited to high speed schlieren imaging, experience with high speed data acquisition, experience with image processing, experience with imaging near-nozzle behavior, experience with high speed fluid dynamics with particular application to free and bounded jets, and experience with operating internal combustion engines with carbon-neutral and carbon-free fuels.
